The economy of Tanzania
POSITIVE POINT
- Mining wealth with gold and copper.
- Gas potential with offshore reserves
discovered in 2010.
- Tourism potential with the very large
national parks and coastlines.
NEGATIVE POINT
- Strong dependence on
the price of gold.
- Vulnerability of
agriculture to climatic conditions.
- Inadequate
infrastructure, particularly in the fields of electricity and transport.
- Inconsistent
industrial policy and deficient business environment.
- Religious tensions
between Zanzibar and the mainland.
Tanzania has a
peculiar economy.
It is mainly based on
agriculture and mining, all industry and technology is almost non-existent so
it’s not an important part of Tanzania's economy.
With the very large
national parks that allow a unique fauna and flora to flourish, Tanzania has a
very interesting economy known to all; tourism.
Americans and
Europeans love and pay the price to be able to see the majestic animals hiding
in the forests of Tanzania's parks and I can confirm it because I was one of
those people.
It is also important
to know that at one time Zanzibar was the largest port on the African coast.
