Around 2015,
Scatec Solar has started to set up the third 86 MW solar plant in
Upington along with its partnership, in South Africa in order to complete the
258 MW solar power complex. The third 86 MW solar plant is capable to produce
217 GWh per year, same for the two previous solar panel plants. These gathered implantations
are expected to produce near 650 GWh which will be a great benefit for the hundreds
of thousand local households by providing them clean energy and by decreasing
more than 600.000 tonnes of CO2 emissions once a year.
Thanks to
its three solar plants, the firm was awarded in 2015 by the Renewable
Energy Independent Power Producer Programme, in South Africa.
In addition
to the entire 258 MW complex in Upington, the firm is aiming to build a fourth
86 MW solar plant at the same location. Just like the preceding three solar
plants, the fourth infrastructure is expected to produce the same amount of energy,
in order to provide clean resources for 40.000 households yearly.
The firm
has declared an increasing strong growth in the fourth solar plant in 2019,
with an amount of revenues of 1.642 million in NOK.
The firm is
aiming to reach an energy capacity of 4.5 GW in under construction at the end
of 2021.
